Day 146

Today we looked at several homes that were part of the Parade of Homes. We came across this while we were out. You don't see too many covered bridges anymore, but this one is only a few years old and pretty good sized.

Day 145

This is a toy horse that we bought for Alyssa before we went to China. We liked it and thought that someday she would enjoy it. It's been sitting in the corner of her room. This morning, she was trying to climb up on it. So, Shawn moved it into the middle of her room. She climbed onto it all by herself and knew just what to do with it.

Day 144

This is the fireworks stand near my house. This is an indian run fireworks stand. The building you see on the right edge of the picture is the indian smoke shop. The large metal pole behind the stand on the right is what holds up Oklahoma's only video billboard, from yesterday's post.

Day 143

This is the first and only video billboard in the state of Oklahoma and it's less than a mile from our house. Being capable of displaying video images makes these ads quite an attention getter. This billboard displays several different ads, showing each one for a few seconds, them moving on to the next one.

Day 142

Today's picture is of my corn salad that I prepared for our department lunch tomorrow. It has everything except the chili cheese Fritos, which have to be added just before it's served.

Today is Shawn and my 8th wedding anniversary. In honor of that, my picture for today is three items displayed on our fireplace mantel regarding our wedding. On the left is our unity candle. On the right is Shawn's wedding bouquet. And, in the middle is one of our framed wedding pictures.

Day 140

This is a Albizia julibrissin, or better known around here as a mimosa tree. I grew this particular tree from a seed and my son, Jeremy helped me transplant it into the backyard. These trees, when mature, will put on many pink fuzzy flowers in the summer. To see what they look like, see the page about them on wikipedia.

For the last 2 or 3 days, Alyssa has been teething and very cranky. Tonight's picture is of my teething survival kit. There's Kleenex for her running nose. Teething tablets and infant Motrin for the teething pain. And the Bacardi drinks are for mom and dad, to unwind after a stressful day.

Day 138

This is a Father's Day gift that Shawn bought me. It is a cannon and is made of mahogany. It is also a wine holder. It's beautiful, and I love it.

Day 137

Today's picture was snapped at a Tulsa Driller's baseball game that Shawn, Alyssa, and I went to. Tonight was fireworks night and worth the trip, even if the Drillers did lose the game.

Today's picture was taken with my macro lens focused on a portion of an illuminated globe showing the area in China where Alyssa came from.

Today, I snapped a picture of my handywork on the front of the house. I've been replacing the posts and railings on the front porch for a few days now and am glad that it's mostly finished. I just have to add a couple of trim boards, reattach the downspout to the guttering(it's attached with bungee cords right now), and paint. For comparison, I'm also including a link to a picture of how it looked before.

Today I have another picture of Alyssa in her pool. She was having a big time splashing water on mommy.

Today, I spotted this very nice Shelby Mustang at the Southern Hills Marriott. Last year about this time, there was a Mustang car show here. I saw a few other nice Mustangs here, and I'm guessing it's about time for this years car show.

Day 127

Today, I stayed home with Alyssa because she's been sick and the doctor said to wait till her fever was gone for 24 hours, before taking her around others. Shawn stayed home with her yesterday and took her to the doctor while it rained almost all day long. So, I kept her today when she felt good again and the weather was nice. We got out her little 2 ring pool in the backyard, and I snapped a few pictures. I gave her several toys to play with, but she preferred the big white bowl from the kitchen over most of the toys.

Today it was dark and cloudy, and it rained almost all day long. This is a picture I snapped at Adams Park, here in Tulsa. As you can see, it was a little bit flooded.

This is a picture of the jade bracelet that we bought for Alyssa while we were in China.

Tonight, we had a Kahlua Cream Pie for our dessert. Here's a picture of a slice of it. It was awesome!

This is one of the coins I brought home from China. This coin is worth 0.1 Chinese Yuan and was minted of aluminium. That's about 1.4 cents here in the U.S.

As promised, today's picture is of Tulsa's new City Hall building. This building's exterior is made up of clear glass. You can see all the elevators, stairwells, and even some of the employees inside it.

Since I'm serving on jury duty in downtown Tulsa this week, I thought I'd show you some of the buildings here. Today, I shot a picture of Tulsa's old City Hall building. They recently purchase a new building for this, which many thought was too big and expensive. Tomorrow, I plan on taking a picture of the new City Hall. The shorter building you see to the left, is the County Courthouse, which is where I'm serving on jury duty.

This is one of many Route 66 markers that can be found along Route 66, here in Tulsa.

Tonight, we ordered Chinese food for dinner. Today's picture is my fortune cookie. Since I'm serving on jury duty starting in the morning, I'm wondering if I'll be seeing some friends there.
